❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use this online calculator?+
Simply click the number buttons or type on your keyboard to enter numbers. Use operation buttons (+, -,
×, ÷) to perform calculations. Press = or Enter to see the result. Toggle between Basic and Scientific
modes for additional functions like trigonometry and logarithms.
What is the difference between Basic and Scientific mode?+
Basic mode offers standard arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Scientific mode adds advanced functions including trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan and their
inverses), logarithms (log base 10 and natural log), powers and roots, factorials, and mathematical
constants like π (pi) and e (Euler's number).
Can I use keyboard shortcuts?+
Yes! The calculator fully supports keyboard input. Use number keys (0-9) for digits, +, -, *, / for
operations, Enter or = for equals, Backspace to delete the last character, and Escape to clear all. You
can also use parentheses for grouping.
Is this calculator accurate for scientific calculations?+
Yes! Our calculator uses JavaScript's built-in Math library which provides IEEE 754 double-precision
floating-point arithmetic. This means it handles up to 15-17 significant digits of precision, which is
suitable for most scientific and engineering calculations.
Are trigonometric functions in degrees or radians?+
The calculator uses radians by default, which is the standard for mathematical calculations. To convert
from degrees to radians, multiply by π/180. For example, sin(90°) would be entered as sin(90 × π ÷ 180).
Does the calculator work offline?+
Once the page is loaded in your browser, all calculations are performed locally without needing an
internet connection. However, you do need an internet connection to initially load the calculator page.
How do I calculate percentages?+
Use the % button after entering a number. For example, to find 20% of 150, enter 150 × 20 %. The
calculator will compute 150 × 0.20 = 30. You can also use percentages in addition and subtraction: 100 +
15% will add 15% to 100.
What does the factorial (n!) function do?+
The factorial function (n!) multiplies all positive integers from 1 to n. For example, 5! = 5 × 4 × 3 ×
2 × 1 = 120. Factorials are commonly used in probability, combinatorics, and statistics calculations.
Can I view my calculation history?+
Yes! The calculator maintains a history of your recent calculations shown below the keypad. Click on any
history item to load that result back into the calculator. Use the "Clear All" button to remove the
history.
Is my calculation data stored or shared?+
No. All calculations are performed entirely in your web browser. We do not store, transmit, or have
access to any of your calculations. Your calculation history is stored only in your browser's memory and
is cleared when you close the page.
